Australia’s number one marketing services company, Sensis, has appointed Stephen Palmer as Executive General Manager of White Pages.
Mr Palmer comes to Sensis with considerable international experience. He was most recently co-founder of TripChum, a digital platform that connects travellers with destination experts to help plan and book their trip. Prior to this he worked at Lonely Planet; latterly as Managing Director and Global Publisher, a role he held for four years. Mr Palmer also held a number of senior executive roles with Bauer Media Group and The Guardian News and Media.
Sensis CEO, John Allan, said Mr Palmer’s addition to the leadership team further strengthens Sensis’ digital growth strategy.
“Stephen’s experience across print and digital means he is eminently qualified to lead the White Pages as we transform Sensis from a traditional directories business to one of Australia’s fastest growing digital media companies,” Mr Allan said.
“Half the Australian population* use our products and services every month, with more than 5 million using White and Yellow pages online and 4.5 million people turning to our White or Yellow print directories.
“As more and more businesses move online to find their customers, we have expanded our services beyond search to include search engine marketing, website development and social media, in fact the majority of our business now comes from our digital assets,” Mr Allan said.
Mr Palmer said he’s looking forward to taking the iconic White Pages brand into the digital age to better serve small business.
“The Australian White Pages was the world’s first to launch online. I’m excited to be able to build on this history of innovation to help businesses compete in the evolving digital media market,” he said.
