New data from TrueLocal unveils the top suburbs in five of Australia’s major cities that have the highest consumer demand, highlighting the locations where businesses may be in a better position than the rest of their city. Small businesses in these suburbs are advised to act now to keep up with Australia’s appetite for local services.

The list of top suburbs for consumer demand was compiled by Australia’s popular online business directory and review website, TrueLocal. The data reveals the suburbs in which local services have been searched for most by consumers in the last 12 months.

In Sydney, it’s the city’s west where consumer demand peaks, with Parramatta and Baulkham Hills ranked number one and two, respectively. They are followed closely by the city’s north, with Ryde and North Sydney taking out third and fourth position, respectively, on the list.

Its suburbs in the inner city and eastern suburbs that top Brisbane’s list, with Spring Hill, Gold Coast and Southport ranked first, second and third respectively on the Queensland city’s list. In Melbourne, it’s the city’s eastern suburbs where consumer demand peaks, with Richmond and Hawthorne ranked first and second respectively on the list.

Salisbury and Torrensville ranked first and second respectively on Adelaide’s list. Finally, West Perth and Subiaco ranked first and second respectively on the Perth list.

Australians searching for businesses within these suburbs are heading online as they’re looking to make informed choices on the services they seek. As such, businesses – from hairdressers and dentists, to accountants and plumbers – should be looking to engage this audience and seriously think about how they’re communicating with consumers.

Spokesperson at TrueLocal, Bradley Taylor, explains, “There’s an opportunity for businesses in these suburbs to connect with and build a strong, loyal customer base if they act now. The first step is to ensure that a business is present when and where customers are searching. This is particularly important for small business where demand and income can often be sporadic. Once a business has the consumer’s attention, after that initial connection they should follow through with superior service and a well-thought sales and marketing strategy.”
